Mainstream wedding fashion is discovering something we have been eyeball deep in for years: Black is the new white. This past weekend, Shenae Grimes was married in a gorgeous Vera Wang black and white tulle gown, and caused quite a stir. Somewhat non-traditional (although not around here), but beautiful, with a classic cut.
Most brides that come to us have been craving something a little more unique than the run of the mill white or ivory gown. Typically, they are ivory, adorned with black crystals, Â beads, lace and tulle. We have also seen many plum, ruby, pink and silver gowns all detailed with black, or even all black.
When someone mentions a black wedding gown, admit it, you immediately think of a standard, puffy, shiny satin,  lacy wedding dress… but in black.
So do most mother of the brides.
Think again, of a sleek black strapless gown with a fitted mermaid that you would wear to a black tie event. Pearl earrings, classic, simple updo. The possibilities are endless.
More romantic styles are possible too, without going overboard, like our most popular gown for our brides inspiration, the baby pink & black lace gown.
Let’s face it, some brides just don’t feel comfortable in white, nor does it suit them. Sometimes, just a hint of something that reflects the brides personality can make the day even more meaningful and fun!
Even the most traditional mother of the bride can’t help but smile when they see their daughter glowing in a wedding gown that is completely unique to them, and that suits their own personal style.
